Zac Miller has been acclaimed as NDP candidate for Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock.
The community activist and volunteer has spent the last several years advocating for improved healthcare and long-term care for the region through the Kawartha Lakes Health Coalition.

New development in Cameron sees protests at public meeting
Current plans include over 100 estate homes, cottages, and a golf course, among other ideas
Flato Developments was given a rough ride by Cameron residents at a public information session today whose residents were worried about plans for a big new residential and commercial development.
But founder and president of the building company, Shakir Rehmatullah, said he was glad they did the event and said he would have asked “the same things” if he were in Cameron residents’ shoes.

Signatures still being gathered by group against ORVs on Lindsay streets

A grassroots group that doesn’t want to see ORVs (also called ATVs) allowed on Lindsay streets is still gathering signatures until at least Aug. 25. The group, led by residents Darryl and Robyn James, is waiting to see if the committee of the whole will accept the petition.

Green Party goes with Godsoe
The local Green Party has cancelled their nomination meeting that would have decided between two candidates and instead found a riding for both contestants to run in. That means Angel Godsoe will represent Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock for the Greens.
