Growing up, I knew it as the hall where people celebrated their family’s milestones with a dance. But, if you still think of the Legion as the members only club of yesterday, perhaps the time has come to take a closer look.

A golf tournament held in Dunsford raised over $1,200.00 to support A Place Called Home’s work in Lindsay.

Organizer Jim Negus approached Kim Wagg and Nicole Rochette, co-owners of the Coach and Horses to see if they’d help make it happen. Although they are new owners of the Coach, they were aware of the long history of the Coach and Negus working together to make the charity event a success and were immediately on board.

More pop-up vaccination clinics coming, says health unit

After months of operating large mass immunization clinic sites in Cobourg, Minden, Fenelon Falls and Campbellford, the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit is shifting its COVID-19 vaccination efforts in the coming weeks in favour of launching more pop-up clinics instead.

The Grove Theatre is elated to announce their opening weekend of programming was a sold-out success. Patrons, donors, volunteers, and artists alike gathered at The Grove, located on the Fenelon Fairgrounds between Aug. 5-7.

Connecting to the community through Japanese food

The best customer by far, of Angie Kim and Isaac Jeon’s Teriyaki Town—at 10 years old, the first-ever Japanese restaurant in Kawartha Lakes —  is Joan Philips. Ever since the restaurant first opened its doors, Joan, then 84, began a tradition of showing up every Saturday. Dinner service started at five, and she’d get to her parking spot 10 minutes early.
