Welcome back to the library: Free wildflower seeds, chance to win prizes

By Lindsay Advocate

All Kawartha Lakes Public Library branches are open regular hours for in-person service and programs — and the branches want to see you again.

With spring here the library is adopting a “Reading Helps You Bloom” theme. To help mark this, starting Monday April 4 the Library will be giving away Bee City-approved wild flower seed packs to the first 500 people to check out books from any of the 14 branches.

“We have received so many wonderful compliments from our patrons letting us know how important using the library has been to them during the pandemic,” says Marieke Junkin, manager of public service. “We just wanted to say thank you to our patrons and welcome back to your library.”

Patrons checking out books will be encouraged to enter a ballot to possibly win one of four $25 gift certificates from a local business.

While the provincial government has removed mandatory masking as of March 21, people are free to continue to wear face masks while visiting the branches.  Hand sanitizer and masks will be available at all branches should people forget to bring their own. With the safety of patrons and staff still in mind, the library continues to sanitize high-touch surface areas and barriers at desks remain in place.

Public computers are available again. Pickup service will continue to be offered for those who wish to use it.
