Free public discussion on basic income at Fleming College

The Ontario Basic Income Network (OBIN) is hosting a free public discussion on basic income in early November at Fleming College’s Frost Campus in Lindsay.

The Nov. 3 event is a chance to explore how basic income might benefit the town, according to Chair of OBIN’s provisional steering committee, Rob Rainer.

“The public event is an opportunity to explore the various ways basic income could really help the people of Lindsay,” he says.

TVO special on basic income in Lindsay.

Lindsay was in the spotlight yesterday when TVO’s flagship show, The Agenda, was in town filming a special basic income episode.

The crew chose the Pie Eyed Monk on Cambridge Street to tape the show, which is still under development as a craft brewery and restaurant.

The three panelists who participated were Mike Perry, executive director of the City of Kawartha Lakes Family Health Team, Zita Devan, founder of A Place Called Home in Lindsay, and Roderick Benns, publisher of The Lindsay Advocate.

Steve Paikin and The Agenda highlight Lindsay’s basic income pilot

TVO’s flagship show, The Agenda, with host Steve Paikin, will roll into Lindsay on Tuesday to film a special episode built around the town’s basic income pilot.

The production crew was in town last week, filming snippets with people in various locations around town.

Mike Perry was chair last year of the Kawartha Lakes Food Coalition. He and his team are largely credited with convincing the Province to bring one of three basic income pilots to Lindsay.
