Stolen property recovered in Kawartha Lakes
Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), in collaboration with Grey Bruce CSCU, have recovered a significant quantity of stolen property as part of an ongoing theft investigation.
On April 27, Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a theft from a rural property in Southgate Township. The stolen property included heavy equipment, vehicles, and various tools.
Grey Bruce CSCU continues to actively investigate this incident, along with similar thefts in the area.
On May 28, City of Kawartha Lakes CSCU received information regarding the location of the stolen property. Officers attended a property in Woodville where some of the items were observed.
A search warrant was obtained and executed under Section 487 of the Criminal Code at the property, which was vacant due to a recent house fire.
During the execution of the warrant, officers recovered stolen property with an estimated total value of approximately $290,000, including:
· 2021 Case Backhoe ($70,000)
· 2022 Volkswagen Atlas ($60,000)
· 2020 Dodge Ram Laramie ($75,000)
· 2016 Toyota RAV4 ($20,000)
· 2006 BMW 3 Series ($20,000)
· John Deere riding lawn mower and wagon ($4,000)
· 2006 CAT Model 226B2 skid steer with multiple attachments ($40,000)
· Stihl chainsaw and gas trimmer ($1,200)
· DeWalt auto grease gun ($500)
The City of Kawartha Lakes CSCU and Grey Bruce CSCU continue the investigation. Two persons of interest have been identified and charges are pending.
