Stolen coat, imitation firearm

On Feb. 1 an emergency 911 call was made to Kawartha Lakes Police Service to report the theft of a coat from an address on Kent Street west in Lindsay.

The caller reported that a young male had fled the area on foot after being confronted about the theft.

The caller also cautioned officers that the young man may have a hand gun in his possession.

The immediate response of police to the area of the theft led to the quick arrest of the male suspect.

The young male was found to be in possession of an imitation firearm.

The young male, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was charged with theft under $5000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, uttering threats to cause death and possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose.
