Stewart Morrison Insurance steps up to help Bobcaygeon relief effort
Long-time leading local business, Stewart Morrison Insurance Brokers Limited, is stepping up and answering the call with a substantial donation to the Bobcaygeon and Area COVID-19 Relief Fund to support the urgent needs of the area patients, families and health care workers affected by the Coronavirus.
“This is personal for us. We live and work in Bobcaygeon, we want to support and help the residents and staff at Pinecrest Nursing Home and also our local community,” says local businesswoman and concerned citizen Marlene Morrison Nicholls, president of Stewart Morrison Insurance.
“We will do whatever we can to help our neighbours, and that’s why I’m pledging $10,000 to the relief fund,” she announced.
As a founding Director of the Community Foundation of Kawartha Lakes and past-President of the Lindsay & District Chamber of Commerce, Morrison Nicholls is calling on other companies and individuals to help too: “Now more than ever, those of us who can must come together and help. People have died and COVID-19 has upended our lives and altered our daily routines forever, but we are a strong community and with each other, we can make a difference.”
Morrison Nicholls acknowledged City of Kawartha Lakes Ward 2 Councillor Kathleen Seymour-Fagan and the Kawartha Arts Council for donating and engaging the area’s new Community Foundation to create a fund to help Bobcaygeon.
The Bobcaygeon and Area COVID-19 Relief Fund is being managed by the Community Foundation of Kawartha Lakes. “This donation by Stewart Morrison Insurance is a great show of community support,” noted foundation President Mike Perry.
“These funds will be spent locally to help the people in Bobcaygeon and area who are in such great need right now. We are honoured to be able to use the foundation to help people and build up our local communities especially in these hard times.”
The Bobcaygeon and Area Covid-19 Relief Fund will provide immediate support including food supplies, transportation, technology, and mental wellness counselling.
Stewart Morrison Insurance has been serving people in the Kawartha Lakessince establishment in 1971 by Stewart Morrison of Little Britain. A leading regional insurance services provider, Stewart Morrison has offices including in Lindsay, Fenelon Falls, and Bobcaygeon, with more than 30 staff.
