Leisa Way and the Wayward Wind Band return to the Globus Theatre stage

Globus Theatre invites patrons to join Leisa Way and her fabulous Wayward Wind band for a spectacular celebration of country music legend Dolly Parton. This live concert features feathers and finery, sassy one-liners, and much-loved hit songs including 9-5, I Will Always Love You, Jolene, Islands in the Stream, and many more.
Leisa was born in Kitchener and raised in Sudbury, where she got her start at 12 years old singing for Her Late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. At age 20, she was cast as “Anne” in Anne of Green Gables, a role she played for six seasons at the Charlottetown Festival, including tours of Canada, the USA and Japan, taping for CBC Radio, filming for television, and three performances for the Royal Family. Since then, her career has taken her to more than 50 countries, and she has performed at major theatres across Canada and the US in roles such as Billie Dawn in Born Yesterday and Guenevere in Camelot. Ten years ago, Leisa began creating concerts, beginning with Sweet Dreams (Patsy Cline), a hugely successful show that has now played at over 60 theatres in Canada. Since then, she has produced over 10 different concerts, many of which have been on the Globus stage including Oh, Canada, We Sing For Thee!, Across the Pond: The British Invasion and Opry Gold.
Rhinestone Cowgirl was Leisa Way’s Globus Theatre debut in 2014, and quickly became an audience favourite. Now, to celebrate the theatre’s 20th anniversary season, the popular show is back. Leisa Way is joined by the Wayward Wind Band made up of percussionist Don Reid; lead vocalist and guitarist Fred Smith; lead vocalist and bassist Bobby Prochaska; lead vocalist, violinist, mandolinist and acoustic guitarist Aaron Solomon; and arranger, musical director, pianist, guitarist, and vocalist Bruce Ley. This musical group is sure to get everyone’s toes tapping and hands clapping, plus the acoustic section will leave the audience breathless.
“Way’s concert, Rhinestone Cowgirl, is designed to leave audiences amazed, hugely entertained, and clamouring for more,” declares a correspondent in The Morrisburg Leader. “It’s not just that Way has a voice with extraordinary range and power, she also manages to capture the essence of Dolly Parton, a star for over five decades.
