Sparkle & Swagger event to support high school athletics in Kawartha Lakes

High school is a time for students to try new things, and athletics plays a vital role in shaping those experiences. From fostering teamwork and leadership to promoting both physical and mental health, sports offer valuable lessons and a chance for social connection away from screens. However, with the rising costs of everyday life, participation can prove difficult.
To help remove these obstacles, Sparkle & Swagger was created by a group of community-minded individuals who want to ensure local youth have access to the same enriching athletic experiences they had during high school by reducing overall costs. On Saturday Feb. 15, the Victoria Armouries will be transformed into a Night Amongst the Stars, where guests are invited to dress to impress, adding a little sparkle and a lot of swagger. The evening will feature a live band, DJ, and a vibrant atmosphere, all in support of local high school athletics.
Proceeds from this exciting event will benefit the athletic programs at the four high schools in Kawartha Lakes: I.E. Weldon, Fenelon Falls, Lindsay Collegiate Vocational Institute, and St. Thomas Aquinas. Last year’s inaugural event raised $20,000, which went towards purchasing new equipment and providing graduating athlete awards at each school.
The community is invited to join in the fun, reconnect with memories of high school sports, and help give back to the students of today, ensuring they have the same opportunities to thrive in athletics.
