On Feb. 15, Sparkle & Swagger hosted “A Night Under the Stars”, bringing the community together for an evening of entertainment and fundraising — despite the snowy conditions. The event raised $25,000 in support of high school athletics in Kawartha Lakes, at four schools: I.E. Weldon, Fenelon Falls, Lindsay Collegiate Vocational Institute and St. Thomas Aquinas.

Guests enjoyed live music from Rachel Jeans with a talented ensemble from the Durham area, followed by a late-night DJ that kept the energy going into the night. Community sponsorship was strong, and attendees embraced the festive atmosphere, complete with cocktails and a Muskoka Brewery-sponsored viewing area to catch Team Canada playing USA in the Four Nations Cup.

Proceeds will go towards the KL Athletic Award, which provides two $500 scholarships to graduating students at each of the four local high schools, as well as purchasing equipment to support athletic programs, with the goal to reduce participation fees for student-athletes across the region.
