Soup surplus for homeless, thanks to Cambridge Street United Church

Cambridge Street United Church’s recent crock pot extravaganza at a fellowship lunch was a boon for A Place Called Home, too.

Donations were solicited for the homeless shelter from church members who attended, and then the $350 that was raised — along with plenty of hot soup — was then taken over to A Place Called Home.

“The soup was awesome and a perfect addition to a very cold Sunday,” says Lorrie Polito, executive director of A Place Called Home.

“It’s always nice to get a homemade donation of hot food,” she says, and notes that it was not only “delicious,” it helped the shelter stretch its food budget too.

One resident informed Polito that the vegetable soup “was his absolute favourite and that it was like a hearty meal.”

“A Place Called Home is very grateful for this and all that the Cambridge Street United Church does to support us and those we serve.”
