Smile Cookie campaign raises more than $10,000 for Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes
The annual Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign, which took place from April 29 to May 5, raised an incredible $10,231.34 in support of the area’s sick, injured and homeless animals.
During the campaign, Tim Hortons guests at the 93 Lindsay Street South location had the opportunity to purchase hand-decorated Smile Cookies or pins. All proceeds went to the Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes (HSKL).
HSKL Board President Patricia Peace expressed gratitude for the community’s support, sharing “We are so grateful to have been chosen again this year as this store’s fundraising recipient. Each and every Smile Cookie sold helps to support the abundance of animals in our care by providing a safe temporary home, veterinary treatment and socialization to get them placed into permanent homes. All of this reduces the population of stray and sick animals in our communities and brings joy to the families who choose to adopt their pets.”
Mrs. Peace also thanks store owners Shelby and Ken Hunter, their incredible staff, and all the dedicated volunteers who spent the week decorating and selling the cookies.
Shelby Hunter, from the local Tim Hortons, shared her excitement about being involved in the Smile Cookie campaign, remarking, “We just love to help out the HSKL, it’s such a great organization and we love animals. We are so grateful for our team and volunteers for making so many cookies and thankful for the community for their support.”
More than $18.8 million was raised nationally during this year’s campaign, benefiting 600 local charities and organizations.
