Small Business Week Breakfast attracts big crowd
Lindsay and District Chamber of Commerce members – and people considering Chamber membership – were out in full force Wednesday morning. They were there to network with one another and to hear Dr. Brett Goodwin (pictured) speak about Fleming College.
Goodwin, the dean at Frost Campus of Fleming College in Lindsay, has only been in the City of Kawartha Lakes for about a year and a half. He spoke about how welcoming the community has been and how Fleming is looking for opportunities to become more integrated with the community.
The dean notes that Fleming, which sits on 150 acres, has a diverse and dedicated group of faculty, technicians, and staff where students are focused on career preparation and applied research in the environmental fields.
His slide show focused on the college’s uniqueness, not only in Ontario, but often in Canada and North America with its cutting edge environmentally-related programs.
That certainly differs from the survey results published by the Financial Times that say over 70% of small business owners in KL find our regulations suffocating and the attitude of Coty staff hostile to business development.
