Schmale sworn in as MP in 43rd parliament
Jamie Schmale was officially sworn in as Member for Parliament for Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock today on Parliament Hill in the newly restored West Block.
Schmale was accompanied by family and friends who together witnessed the beginning of his second term in parliament.
Before any duly elected representative may take his or her seat and vote in the House of Commons, the individual must take an oath or make a solemn affirmation of allegiance and sign the test roll, a book with pages headed by the text of the oath.
“I am thankful and deeply honoured to have been re-elected as Member of Parliament for Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock,” said Schmale. “Now that the official ceremony is over, my staff and I look forward to continuing our hard work on behalf of the good people of our riding. I am committed to doing my best to serve all constituents and to be their voice in Ottawa.”
The 43rd Parliament of Canada begins on December 5.
