Roost Farm Market to celebrate grand opening

Residents are invited to celebrate the expansion of The Roost Farm and opening of its new store, The Roost Market on Saturday Oct. 12 from 10:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. Check out the new store and café, full of local produce, farm-raised meats, eggs, maple syrup, preserves, and artisanal gifts from both The Roost and neighbouring farms. Then head over to the farm to enjoy the festivities in conjunction with Kawartha Farmfest.

Festivities get underway with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:00 a.m. From 10:30 a.m. through 12:30 p.m., Jessica Martin and Sean Patrick will provide entertainment on fiddle and banjo, respectively, with Barbara MacMillan performing highland dance. Jim Cronk will entertain with his guitar from 1:00 through 3:00 p.m. Wagon tours of the farm take place throughout the day, costing $5 per adult and free for children. A barbecue, pumpkin painting, rubber duck races, wool carding and spinning demonstrations among other activities round out the day.
