Rollover, collisions: Be careful out there

By Roderick Benns

On Saturday April 14 at approximately 945am a pick up truck traveling west on Little Britain Road at Opmar Road lost control and rolled over into the ditch on the south side of the highway.  The two occupants of the truck  were taken to Ross Memorial Hospital. One of the two occupants was later transferred to a Toronto Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Shortly after the rollover, a second collision occurred in the same area when a vehicle traveling west on Little Britain Road lost control and traveled into the east bound lane and struck an east bound vehicle head on.  The occupant of the west bound vehicle was taken to Ross Memorial Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The two occupants of the east bound vehicle were taken to Ross Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
The City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service closed Little Britain Road between Elm Tree Road and Salem Road to investigate the two collisions. Members of the Ontario Provincial Police attended the scene to assist with traffic control and collision reconstruction.
Roads in the City of Kawartha Lakes continue to be ice covered and the public is encouraged to remain home and not drive if at all possible.
