RCAF flyby will mark Legion’s 100th anniversary in Lindsay
Council received a memorandum recommending a letter of support for a Royal Canadian Air Force flyby over Lindsay on July 17 to mark the Lindsay Legion’s 100th anniversary.
Ward 7 Coun. Charlie McDonald sponsored the memorandum during the June 2 committee of the whole meeting.
McDonald told council the legion approached him with a request for the city to send a letter of support to 1 Canadian Air Division, the RCAF’s headquarters responsible for approving flyby requests.
Municipal councils must approve flybys as part of the application process.
“I think it would be nice to have that, and that’s why I am bringing it here today, to get the approval,” McDonald told council.
The move was seconded by Ward 1 Coun. Emmett Yeo, who briefly spoke to it.
“It’s an awesome chance and it doesn’t happen all the time, so it’s a pretty big deal,” he said.
