Page aims to celebrate ‘therapeutic’ animal friends
An Omemee-based woman and registered nurse, Charlene Sampson, has created a Facebook page so people can honour their pets by posting images of their animal friends.
She named the page ‘Friends of Delilih’ in honour of her own dog. She believes there is a real “therapeutic side” for people to share things about their pet, given that animal owners say their friends “brighten their day, are loyal, and assist the sick.”
“I think it helps people who suffer from anxiety, too,” says Sampson, “and sometimes it’s a reason to get up in the morning.”
The long term care facility nurse says she knows having animals visit the facility “lighten the lives” of residents.
