Omemee artists featured at City Hall

Omemee artists Walter and Peggy Cracknell’s photography will be featured in City Hall throughout June. All are invited to visit City Hall at 26 Francis Street in Lindsay to enjoy their photography while it is being exhibited.

Walter and Peggy have been involved with photography for over 40 years. Both have worked with traditional film in the past, having owned their own studio and lab. In 2001, they transitioned into the digital world which has opened a wider palette to express their varied interests. Their favourite part about being an artist in Kawartha Lakes is the opportunity to show the public their vision of the environment around them from an artist’s eye.

Walter has taught photography at Sir Sanford Fleming College in Lindsay and has been a guest speaker and judge at many Horticultural and Photographic Societies. Having photographed people for most of his career, Walter has always looked for the inner person to bring his portraits to life. He continues this theme by looking for the soul of his landscapes.

Peggy’s interest in photography started at a young age with her father’s camera. Being raised on a farm, Peggy has a deep affinity for two of nature’s main elements, water and rocks, which are the main interests of her works. Peggy has an excellent eye for colour and composition, which makes her an accomplished photographer.

Walter and Peggy’s works have been shown in Nova Scotia, Bethany, Toronto, Peterborough, Omemee, Germany, Holland and more.
