November 3-9 is Crime Prevention Week

By Lindsay Advocate

Crime Prevention Week runs from Nov. 3 to 9 and this year’s theme is “Preventing Crime, Protecting People.”

The week-long promotion of crime prevention is supported by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police, the Ministry of the Solicitor General and the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service.

Over the course of this week, some of the innovative collaborations between the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service and our community partners will be profiled to demonstrate how our police service is working to prevent crime before it happens.

For many years, the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service has worked closely with Women’s Resources in Lindsay to support vulnerable members of our community.

In partnership with the dedicated staff from Women’s Resources, our Domestic Violence Coordinator works to assist women and children who are at risk of being victimized by crime.  Early intervention with family members who are likely to experience domestic violence can significantly reduce the likelihood of victimization in the future.
