A winner from a previous year for the Kawartha Lakes Youth Awards.

BGC Kawarthas Foundation has officially opened nominations for the 3rd annual Kawartha Lakes Youth Awards. The Awards program recognizes youth between the ages of 12 and 24 in eight award categories:  BGC Club Spirit Award, Arts Achievement, Entrepreneurship, Green Award, Humanitarian, Leadership, Resiliency and Physical Literacy.

The Awards were first launched to mark the 50th anniversary of BGC Kawarthas in 2020 and continue to enable the BGC Kawarthas Foundation to raise much needed funds for youth programs at the Club.

Dozens of inspiring stories of achievement, resiliency and volunteerism have been highlighted over the past two years and nominations have been submitted from teachers, community agencies and individuals. All youth who have a strong connection to Kawartha Lakes qualify and can be nominated in up to two award categories.  Only the BGC Club Spirit category requires prior or current involvement with BGC.

Nominations close on Wednesday, March 9.

There are now two scholarship opportunities in conjunction with the Awards:

  1. The Ron Kennedy Scholarship is presented to one award nominee who is entering post-secondary education or training within the next 12 months.
  2. The Marcie Beall Scholarship is offered to the winner of the BGC Club Spirit Award in the 18-24 age category.
