New ‘Pride bench’ for Victoria Park

By Lindsay Advocate

As Kawartha Lakes Pride entered into its sixth year in Kawartha Lakes, Kawartha Lakes Pride was saddened that things could not proceed as usual this year due to the pandemic.

Particularly noticed would be the absence of the large gathering that is now an annual event at Victoria Park in Lindsay.

All events moved online and KLP hosted a digital pride, with the exception of one social distanced event, Pooch Pride, hosted by Adelaide Clinic.

In lieu of the annual Pride Picnic, Kawartha Lakes Pride decided to donate a “pride bench” to Victoria Park, in Lindsay, to represent the picnic that never was.

The new bench features the progressive pride flag colours which include trans flag colours and colours to represent racial minorities.

There will also be a plaque installed in August that will read:

Dedicated to our LGBTQ2S+ Community. You can sit with us – Kawartha Lakes Pride
