Name of deceased pedestrian released

The City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service has released the name of the person who was was struck by a vehicle that was reversing from an angled parking spot on Kent Street on Monday.

Dead is 68-year-old Christine Hewitt of Lindsay.

On Monday March 26 at 4:44 pm, police noted that a pedestrian attempted to walk across Kent Street West in Lindsay when she was struck by the reversing vehicle.

First responders attended the scene to provide assistance and she was rushed to Ross Memorial Hospital.

The section of Kent Street West where the collision occurred was closed by members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service until 8:45 pm while the scene was investigated.

A Technical Collision Investigator from the Ontario Provincial Police attended to assist with the investigation.
