Menopause: The musical farewell tour at Academy
Flato Academy Theatre is presenting the smash hit “Menopause The Musical” as part of the shows farewell tour of Ontario. It plays Flato Academy Theatre Tuesday October 18th.
The show has been a 20-year hit on stages around the world, including an ongoing run at Harrah’s Las Vegas and is recognized as the longest-running “scripted musical comedy” to continuously play Las Vegas.
Filled with parodies of hit songs from the 60’s, 70’s & 80’s, “Menopause the Musical” is set in a department store where four women meet by chance while shopping for a black lace bra. Finding common ground, the characters joke about their woeful hot flashes, mood swings, wrinkles, weight gain, memory loss, too much sex, not enough sex, and more.
“Menopause The Musical” is a worldwide phenomenon because it’s so brilliantly funny, but at its core, it’s really about female empowerment” says co-producer Mark Zimmerman. “These women form a sisterhood and a unique bond with the audience, as they rejoice in celebrating that menopause is not ‘The Silent Passage’ anymore.”
Since 2015 “Menopause” has been touring Canada from coast to coast and recently announced this will be its final tour of Ontario and its final performance in Lindsay.
The Canadian All Star cast members are Lorena MacKenzie, Janet Martin Barb Scheffler, Sarah Strange and Fredena J. Williams.
