Meet the small businesses of Kawartha Lakes’ Starter Company PLUS fall cohort
These diverse entrepreneurs are set to make significant contributions to the local business landscape.
The Kawartha Lakes Small Business Centre (SBC), in partnership with the Province of Ontario, offers the Starter Company PLUS program twice a year. Entrepreneurs are given access to small business training, mentoring and grant money of up to $5000 to assist in the start-up or expansion of their business.
Meet the fall cohort:
Brouwer Bake Shop – Hannah Brouwer’s venture specializes in custom cakes and baked goods. Indulge in some sweet creations by visiting the Brouwer Bake Shop website.

The Starter Company Plus program is a fabulous opportunity to learn the fundamentals of entrepreneurship while networking with other new entrepreneurs. The program blends instruction by real life experts with one-on-one coaching to offer a really individualized learning and development experience. All with the bonus of start up grant support. As a lifelong employee that decided to pursue a dream, I am so grateful to have the support of the program to get me off to a great start,” shared Barbara Jones, program participant and owner of Homespun Alchemy.
