Mark-a-thon raises $5,000 for A Place Called Home

The 21st annual Mark-a-thon on Sept. 7 was a great success thanks to local hero Mark Fevang and to all those who supported his walk. Over $5,000.00 was raised for A Place Called Home.
This year’s event featured a beautiful scenic 5 km or 10 km walking tour throughout Lindsay and ended with a celebratory barbeque at the Coach and Horses Pub in Lindsay. “Despite the drizzly weather, we had a great walk and had more walkers attend this year’s event than last year which means we are succeeding at raising awareness about our community members experiencing homelessness and how we support them,” said Jen Lopinski, fund development coordinator at APCH.
Mark Fevang has been walking for A Place Called Home for the past 21 years and has raised almost $100,000 for A Place Called Home. Mark’s mother, Marg Fevang was a previous board member at APCH and encouraged Mark to walk to raise funds for those experiencing
homelessness. The money he raises each year will support some increasing operational costs such as food, unexpected expenses, and services that are needed for daily operations of A Place Called Home. Donations and fundraisers like the Mark-a-thon help APCH to reach more
unique individuals and provide them with support that can make the difference they need to reach or maintain housing security.
APCH sincerely thanks Mark and everyone who supported his Mark-a-thon Hero Walk by walking with Mark and donating towards the walk. It would also like to thank its sponsors, the Wholesale Club in Lindsay for the donation of burgers and buns as well as the Coach and Horses Pub for hosting the barbeque after the walk.
