Man arrested for theft of Humane Society fundraiser box

On February 28, 2020, the Kawartha Lakes Police Service arrested the man responsible for the theft of a donation box on National Cupcake Day.

64-year-old Daniel George Wilson of Lindsay has been charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.

The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on March 26, 2020.

National Cupcake Day is one of the biggest fundraisers for the local Human Society.

A Lindsay woman, Kymie Lewis, launched a Go Fund Me campaign for the Humane Society after hearing about the theft. So far, it has raised $330 as of press time.
