By Lindsay Advocate

With the Machik Global Auction, local goes global. The auction opened Saturday September 9 and closes Friday September 22.

On offer are unique in-person and online experiences such as: a pickleball lesson from local pro Mark Cossarin, historic walking tour with local historian Ian McKechnie, online conversations with leading Canadian writer Camilla Gibb, an online presentation on the magic of growing and using herbs with the renowned Conrad Richter, and an online seminar with Dr. Tashi Rabgey on “Tibet in the Age of Empire.”

All items have been generously donated by local and international supporters of Machik’s work, and all proceeds go to support Machik’s work strengthening Tibetan communities.

The local faces of Machik are Tsering and Pencho Rabgey, who with their daughters Dr. Losang Rabgey and Dr. Tashi Rabgey oversaw the construction and operation of the very successful primary and middle schools in the Chungba Valley of Tibet. Tsering and Pencho have been awarded Lindsay Chamber of Commerce honours and have likewise been recognized by the Governor General of Canada for their contributions to our local community and abroad.
