Lindsay Transit to offer temporary ‘on-demand’ service
Lindsay Transit will be opening an “on-demand” temporary service for conventional riders beginning Sunday, May 3. The service will be available Monday to Saturday from 8 am to 7 pm, and Sundays from 10 am to 4 pm.
Riders can request this temporary service by contacting Lindsay Transit during their office hours from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 4 pm, at 705-324-3331.
This level of service is being offered to assist with essential travel, including travel for work, grocery, pharmacy and medical appointments. The “on demand” booking is open to all residents, with a priority for essential and front-line workers.
“We understand that there is a basic need for travel, such as getting to and from work, or visiting to the local grocery store for food,” stated Kerri-Lyn Hele, transit supervisor for Kawartha Lakes.
“Although the service is modified, it’s only temporary and we hope it can play a role in helping those who need to go out for essential reasons.”
Lindsay Transit operators will be using existing transit stops for pick-up and drop-off locations. Be sure to confirm your pick up time, date and stop location before ending your call.
Lindsay Transit has the right to limit passenger numbers and to offer alternate times based on ridership demand and physical distancing requirements.
