Lindsay and District Ministerial holding contest to “Light Up Lindsay” for Christmas
Do you think you have one of the best decorated houses or businesses in Lindsay? Here is your chance to win bragging rights and your share of $3,000!
The Lindsay and District Ministerial is introducing a contest for the town of Lindsay to encourage people to decorate outside their homes for Christmas. They’re calling this contest “Light Up Lindsay”.
Registration opens Nov. 16, 2020.
Decorations must be up by Dec. 14, at dusk and remain up until Dec. 31. Lights must be on at dusk until 10 p.m. daily.
Winners will be announced on Dec. 31 at the Lindsay Exhibition (LEX) fireworks. Judges will be local community leaders.
There will be three prize categories, with a $1,000 top prize for each category.
Categories for prizes are:
1) The Original Christmas Story – decorate your home with features highlighting the original Christmas story (the Biblical story – baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, wisemen, etc.)
2) Seasonal Decorations – decorate your home with lights and modern seasonal decorations.
3) Business Christmas Decorating – decorate your place of business for the season.
Judging criteria include visual impact, craftsmanship, theme, and creativity.
Their webpage includes an interactive map of all participating locations. The map will provide community members with directions to any display they are interested in viewing.
