Labour Council celebrates 60 years

The Lindsay and District Labour Council will be celebrating their 60th anniversary Oct. 28 at the Royal Canadian Legion with special guest speakers.

Local labour leaders, labour councils and workers will be getting together to celebrate 60 years of “fighting for decent jobs, fair working conditions, health and safety, and workers’ rights for everyone,” according to a media release.

Guest speakers include Donald Lafleur and Chris Buckley.

Lafleur was first elected as Canadian Labour Congress executive vice-president in May 2014 and is now serving his second term. Buckley is the president of the Ontario Federation of Labour.

The legion is located at 12 York St. North in Lindsay. Doors open at 5 pm.
