The Kawartha Lakes Public Library is thrilled to announce its proposal for the Commonwell LEAF grant to fund a new initiative, the Lindsay Library Creativity Lab — an innovative space where community members of all ages can work, learn, create, and preserve memories.

With the recent relocation of the Kawartha Lakes Art Gallery, the library aims to transform the vacated area into a vibrant hub for creativity and productivity. The planned Creativity Lab will feature private work pods for quiet study and virtual meetings, a flexible common area for STEAM and technology-based programs, and a Memory Lab with specialized equipment for digitizing personal media such as photographs, VHS tapes, vinyl records, and cassettes. The lab will offer the community new tools to engage in lifelong learning, explore new skills, and preserve family and community history.

The library needs the public’s support to help secure funding for this project. Members of the community are encouraged to visit the grant submission page to add a story, leave a comment, submit a photo, or share the page on Facebook.

The library’s vision is to create a space that encourages both personal and community growth. The Creativity Lab will provide resources for individuals to develop technology skills, explore hands-on learning, and preserve their personal histories. We hope this space becomes a meaningful addition to the library and the community it serves. With a commitment to accessibility and inclusivity, the Lindsay Library Creativity Lab will provide one fully accessible work pod, ensuring that all community members, including those with disabilities, can benefit from this valuable resource.

Kawartha Lakes Public Library invites all residents to support this endeavor and help bring the Creativity Lab to life. By sharing stories, photos, and comments on the grant page, the community can showcase its enthusiasm for a project that will foster learning, creativity, and connection for years to come.
