Kawartha Lakes Medical Society announces first year medical student award
The Kawartha Lakes Medical Society (KLMS), a branch society of the Ontario Medical Association, is pleased to announce that an annual award for a first-year medical student of any Ontario Medical School has been established.
Applicants must fulfil all of the following criteria:
1. Resident of the City of Kawartha Lakes (CKL) or Haliburton County for at least two years of the five years before undergraduate study.
2. Applicant is enrolled in Year One of an Ontario Faculty of Medicine program.
3. Applicant is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
4. The applicant is not an immediate family member of any KLMS member.
5. The applicant has contributed to the life of the community of CKL or Haliburton County.
6. The applicant allows community leaders such as the Kawartha Lakes Health Care Initiative, the Ross Memorial Hospital and the KLMS to have ongoing communication with the Medical Student.
Each of the Ontario medical schools will be made aware of this award in conjunction with the Ross Memorial Hospital Medical Student Bursary in early April of each year. Annually, one award of two thousand dollars ($2000) will be awarded by September 30.
Applications will be received by June 30 of each year through the Scholarship Officer of the Kawartha Lakes Medical Society.
Applicants must provide the following:
1. Name, address and preferred form of communication.
2. Resume
3. Evidence of City of Kawartha Lakes or Haliburton County residency
4. Evidence of enrollment in a qualifying Faculty of Medicine
The Executive Officers of the KLMS will evaluate all applications and present the award to one student annually.
