Kawartha Lakes launches Diggin’ Downtown Lindsay business support campaign
As the reconstruction continues in Lindsay’s Downtown, Kawartha Lakes launches “Diggin’ Downtown Lindsay”, a campaign to help give local businesses a boost.
While construction and COVID-19 present short-term challenges, businesses continue to serve the community while abiding by all health and safety protocols.
“This has been an incredibly tough year for our business owners and their resilience has been nothing short of amazing. With vaccines on the way and phase three of construction on schedule, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel and it’s important we continue to support local businesses during this final push,” says Andy Letham, mayor of Kawartha Lakes. “We can’t wait for the community to experience the benefits of the revitalization, but in the meantime businesses remain open and there are a variety of convenient ways to shop.”
Phase three is one of the biggest phases of the downtown construction project and is expected to finish in November 2021. This essential work to our roads and underground infrastructure will provide a needed revitalization to Lindsay Downtown that should benefit the community and businesses for many years to come.
To support during construction, “Diggin’ Downtown Lindsay” will promote shopping by highlighting business in the construction area and helping shoppers navigate through the downtown with wayfinding signage.
The city asks that community members get involved by sharing and promoting their shopping experiences in the downtown using the campaign’s hashtag, #diggindowntownlindsay.
Updates on the campaign, as well as construction, will also be posted on the city’s website.
