Kawartha Lakes Health Coalition information session

By Lindsay Advocate

The Kawartha Lakes Health Coalition is hosting an Information Session at 7 pm on Wednesday, Nov. 21 at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 40 William Street N, Lindsay. This event is a follow-up to the Rally for Ross protest demonstration held on Oct. 29th, where nearly 100 people showed up in the cold and rain to show their support to stop the merger.

Natalie Mehra of the Ontario Health Coalition will be in attendance to speak to residents about what we can do to “Save the Ross”. Other hospital and government officials have been invited to attend or speak as well.

The Ross Memorial Hospital has not been forthcoming with concrete information or any details since the cancellation of the last of the public meetings in August  of this year, although meetings have continued behind closed doors. It is possible the merger could proceed for Jan. 1, 2019 with no further public consultation or input.

The Kawartha Lakes Health Coalition is circulating petitions that will be presented to Legislature at Queen’s Park asking the government to stop the proposed amalgamation, increase hospital funding for both hospitals, increase front-line staff, and end hallway medicine to guarantee the residents of City of Kawartha Lakes and Peterborough County high quality healthcare that they should count on.

Those that have petitions to hand in should bring them to the event or contact organizers to arrange for pick up via email

Or, it can be done via Facebook @KLhealthcoalition and donations to help continue this important work.
