Kawartha Lakes Food Source celebrating 15th anniversary of Jolly Jog

By Lindsay Advocate

The annual Jolly Jog marks its 15th anniversary in 2024.

Residents are invited to mark their calendars and pull out their running shoes because the 15th annual Jolly Jog is happening this year on Saturday, November 16.

Jolly Jog is a fundraiser for Kawartha Lakes Food Source (KLFS) that invites the community to participate in a festive, family-friendly five km walk/run on a route around Lindsay. Participants can sign up as individuals or as a group with friends, family, or coworkers. The event is free, but organizers urge participants to donate upon sign-up and collect pledges in support of their run.

Donations and pledges are so important: they make up nearly the entire amount raised each year, and the KLFS hoping the 15th anniversary of this exciting fundraiser will be the best one yet.

On November 16, after Jolly Joggers finish their route, they can enjoy a fun-filled afternoon with games, a chilli lunch, hot chocolate, and of course, photos with Santa. Best-dressed prizes will be given for most festive individual, group, and pet at the event, and a special prize for most funds raised will be awarded after November 16.

“I’m excited to attend my first Jolly Jog this year,” says KLFS Volunteer Relations Coordinator Brittni Wells. “It’s a wonderful chance to support our community and spread holiday joy.”

Not only is the Jolly Jog a fun holiday kick off, it’s also a great way to give back, as an individual or even as a local business. KLFS is still accepting Jolly Jog event sponsors, which could be a great strategy to help local businesses meet their goals and build an even bigger presence in the community.

“Our goal is to raise $10,000, and I can’t wait to see everyone come together for this great cause,” shares Wells. Jolly Jog is one of KLFS’s biggest fundraising events, which means attendees participation makes a significant impact at KLFS. Organizers would also like to point out that donations of $20 and above are eligible to receive a charitable tax receipt. Sharing this
information with potential pledgees is a great incentive to get more donations to support your run.
