Kawartha Care offering virtual care for free until April 15

Kawartha Care in Lindsay is offering virtual care and has been okayed by many insurance companies to go ahead and treat patients through confidential video chatting — right in the comfort of their own home.

“Our clinic is taking it a step further,” says Dr. Manju Asdhir, saying Kawartha Care will offer “complimentary virtual visits for our current patients until April 15.”

She says their regulatory body says they cannot see new patients at this time “but at least this is a way to support patients during a time where they need it the most.”

Asdhir points out that many patients may be in need of care, their pain may have spiked, or they don’t know what rehabilitation to focus on.

“They maybe don’t know where to start, without their therapist,” says Asdhir, without some professional guidance.

She says she is booking 15 minute appointments to go through rehab, stretches, and therapy that can be done at home.

The doctor of chiropractic also just completed a four-hour training on virtual care by a therapist out of B.C.

“Quite honestly, we were scared of what would happen if our doors closed and we were not able to see patients, but it seems that this will be a new permanent fixture for Kawartha Care,” she says.

Asdhir says the benefits of telehealth include decreased cost to patient, working with clients in their own homes, improved access to care, and convenience.
