Impaired driver arrested at accident scene
A 30-year-old Little Britain man was arrested early Tuesday evening after Kawartha Lakes Police were called to the scene of an accident on Elm Tree Road.
Police responded to a call for a pickup truck that was on its side in the ditch on Elm Tree Road. Police located the vehicle in the east ditch, just south of Cross Creek.
Upon arrival, the officer noted that there were about 130 metres of skid marks that started in the southbound lane of Elm Tree Road and then led up to the truck. When the officer spoke with the driver, they immediately detected the odour of alcohol on his breath.
The man was arrested and then taken to Kawartha Lakes Police Services where he provided breath samples. The man registered readings in excess of two times the legal limit.
30-year-old Johnathan Avery of Little Britain has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and exceeding the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.
He will appear at the Lindsay Court of Justice on Dec. 14.
