Got reading? Library ready to offer pick-up service

By Lindsay Advocate

The Kawartha Lakes Public Library now offers pickup service at the Lindsay and Fenelon Falls branches.

People will be able to pickup books that they have requested online or over the telephone. The service will be available at both branches Monday to Saturday 10 am to 3 pm.

People will be able to place holds on items using the library website at www.kawarthalakeslibrary.ca/catalogue or they can call 705-324-9411 ext. 1291 for assistance.

People can request anything as long as it is in either Lindsay or Fenelon Falls branches, including: books, dvds, audiobooks and cds.

Staff will collect the items and then will call when the material is ready for pickup. Once ready for pickup, the books will be held for 7 calendar days.

When the books are ready, please come to the branch front door, pickup the items and enjoy.

The book returns at the Lindsay and Fenelon Falls branches will open on June 3 as well.

If people are picking up books at the same time, they are asked to use the book returns as staff are not able to accept items at the door.

For everyone’s health and safety, all returned material will be quarantined for 72 hours before it is checked in and processed.

“We know residents miss their library and our staff really miss helping people find that perfect new book,” says Jamie Anderson, CEO/library director.

“We hope this new pickup service will help bring a little normalcy back to everyone’s lives. We hope to expand this to other branches if all goes well.”

All library material that is already currently checked out has had the due dates automatically extended until Thursday July 2, 2020.
