Globus Theatre unveils new season starting in May

Globus Theatre is thrilled to announce its 22nd season of professional theatre in Bobcaygeon, featuring 10 mainstage shows running from May to December 2025.
“This is our third extended season, allowing us to offer even more variety to our audiences. Over the past two years, we’ve seen that our plays, which have built our reputation over the past 20 years, remain our most popular offerings. Our audiences actively seek them out, and that’s why they continue to be the core of our season. Plus, amidst this year’s variety, we are excited to present two Canadian premieres,” says Sarah Quick, artistic director
The 2025 season kicks off with the Canadian premiere of Desperate to be Doris, an uplifting comedy set in a pajama factory. This unique production will feature a collaboration between Globus’ professional company and a local community choir singing Doris Day songs.
“I was thrilled to discover this very funny play, which introduces a community collaboration and offers local performers the opportunity to socialize and sing together. I’ve included it as our opening show to thank everyone who has supported us over the past few years,” says Quick.
Another Canadian premiere this season is The Comeback by Alex Owen and Ben Ashenden, a hilarious comedy that took London’s West End by storm. Additional highlights include Come Down From Up River by audience favourite Norm Foster, Hook Up by Paul Bates, and the beloved Shirley Valentine by Willy Russell.
“Though we rarely repeat shows at Globus, our extended season allows us to remount one classic. Our production of Shirley Valentine, starring Sarah Quick, is a fan favourite. It’s funny, perpetually relevant, and Sarah is a fantastic Shirley. With many requests to reprise it and new audience members yet to experience its joy, we had to include it this year,” said James Barrett, artistic producer.
Other highlights of the 10-show season include the new Canadian comedy The Beaver Club, two original Murder Mysteries, a Johnny and June Cash Live Concert Show, and the season-ending traditional British Panto, Jack and the Beanstalk.
