Globus Theatre introduces drop-in workshops to March break camp

Globus Theatre’s Bobcaygeon studio will be alive with activity next week from March 10-14 as they host a variety of experiential workshops in addition to their March break camp. They’re inviting curious creative kids to join them for some songwriting, comedy, music and on camera work.
The March break camp is part of their School of Dramatic Art (SODA), an initiative to offer accessible and fun arts programming to all children and youth in the Kawartha Lakes. This year’s March break will be jam-packed with workshops in acting, dancing, music and more.
“March Break is always so much fun here at Globus. We’re really excited to welcome new and returning kids to the program,” says general manager and workshop leader Rebecca Anne Bloom.
Rebecca is leading the Lights! Camera! Commercial! Workshop (March 13, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.) which uses real TV scripts to practice the art of the self-tape — a necessary skill for on-camera work and auditions. Lights! Camera! Commercial! will be both informative and fun, giving everyone a chance to get in front of the camera.
Other workshops taking place for Globus’ March break camp include a musical theatre workshop with performer Kelly Burrows (March 10th 1-3pm); an improv workshop with the hilarious Jennine Profeta (March 11th 1-3pm) and a rock-star-in-training workshop with Shelby Crego and Ester Mayer of Bread & Soul (March 12th 11-1pm).
These new workshops are offered in addition to the day camp which runs from 10am to 4pm and offers a variety of activities, crafts, and games for kids to enjoy. The week ends with a variety show on Friday March 14th showcasing the talent on display during the week’s festivities.
Think you can only make half days? Or just one or two workshops? Don’t fret; save the drama for camp! “Part of our mission is to be as accommodating as possible, so we offer flexible options to adapt to the needs of different people in the community,” explains Rebecca. “We have a variety of options at sign up depending on what you are interested in. There is also before and after care available for a fee.”
