Frostival event in Coboconk at Balsam Lake
A new spin on a small town event known as “The Frostival” in Coboconk will be offered this year at Balsam Lake Provincial Park. Come try the Frostival’s outdoor skating trail at Balsam Lake Provincial Park on Jan. 26 and 27.
The Coboconk, Norland and Area Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Balsam Lake Provincial Park and Kawartha Lakes Tourism are hosting an event on Saturday Jan. 26 and Sunday Jan. 27 featuring a skate trail through the forest – just for this event.
Similar to the popular skating trail at Arrowhead Provincial Park, the trail for this event runs throughout the forested park with bonfires, staging areas, and is lined by torchlight. The skate trail will be available to the public during The Frostival event with an evening torch-lit skate on Saturday from 4-8 pm, followed by an afternoon of skating on Sunday from Noon-4 pm.
Admission to the event is $15 per car and only cash will be accepted. Complimentary hot chocolate will be served throughout the event and the cross-country ski and snowshoe trails will be open for use as well, all events weather permitting.
Bring your family and your skates and spend the weekend outdoors embracing winter and experiencing the Frostival’s skate trail at Balsam Lake Provincial Park. Please note: this is the only time the skating trail will be open to the public this season.
