Food for Thought in Woodville
The sixth annual Food For Thought concert and silent auction to raise funds for efforts to fight hunger in the City of Kawartha Lakes is happening Nov. 11 at Woodville United Church.
Kawartha Lakes Food Source (KLFS) and the Woodville Eldon Food Bank are co-organizers of the event. The silent auction begins at 4 pm, with light refreshments served. The concert beginning at 4:30 pm and features three live bands – Django Junkers, Purple Sky and Thorncrest Road. Admission is by donation.
The event organizers are also seeking anyone who is interested in volunteering for this event, or for KLFS or the Woodville Eldon Food Bank in general. They are also open to receiving additional silent auction items to benefit the event.
KLFS is a not-for-profit centralized distribution centre that supplies food to nine member agency food banks and 21 local elementary and secondary school breakfast programs. KLFS procures food from reclamation, food drives, donations, and purchasing from various sources. Its mandate includes fundraising, organizing food drives and promoting awareness of hunger and its impact in the City of Kawartha Lakes.
Woodville Eldon Food Bank is a member food bank of Kawartha Lakes Food Source and operates out of the Woodville United Church, distributing food to those in need in the rural area.
