Floortrends: Arscott family a part of community for generations

By Lindsay Advocate

As a child and later as a teen, Jessica Arscott remembers working on weekends cleaning the showrooms and bathrooms at her family’s business.

That business is Floortrends, found at 309 Colborne St. E., Lindsay, near the water tower. For more than 20 years it’s been a flooring store, beginning as Kawartha Karpet & Tile and later changing to Floortrends.

Jessica officially joined the family business in 2013 but her family has been a part of the community for generations. Over that time there have been a lot of changes.

“We still have customers who we worked with in the past coming back 20 years later to change their floors, as well as people we know from our primary and high school days,” she says.

That sense of trust has helped her father, Kevin Arscott, grow this local business in leaps and bounds.

Now president of the company, Kevin started as an estimator at Kawartha Karpet & Tile in Peterborough and ended up buying the business and eventually acquired stores in Lindsay, Cobourg, Bowmanville, and Belleville.  Jessica’s mother, Mary Arscott, worked in the accounting department for years but is now enjoying retirement.

Floortrends offers every type of flooring available, including: waterproof flooring, luxury vinyl tiles and planks, sheet vinyl, hardwood, engineered hardwood, laminate, carpet, carpet tiles, area rugs, stair runners, floor and wall and backsplash tile, shower waterproofing systems, installation materials, and commercial flooring.

As well, the company offers full installation services on everything it sells.
