Monk, a mystery comedy-drama series about a brilliant detective with obsessive-compulsive disorder, aired its last season in 2009. The character returns in an upcoming movie to solve one last case involving his stepdaughter Molly, a journalist preparing for her wedding.

This is the first production in Kawartha Lakes through the new Film Office and permitting system. A media release notes that as part of the Economic Development team, the Film Office provides services such as liaising with producers, assisting with the implementation of work required to film in the municipality and facilitating film permit applications.

Last week’s filming location has been registered on Ontario Creates, along with many other unique Kawartha Lakes properties. Anyone interested in having film production on their property can contact the Kawartha Lakes Film Liaison at .

Thank you to the great crew and professional management team who worked diligently to address the safety and convenience of local residents, the release states. Special thanks to residents for their patience during the film dates.
