Fenelon Falls man charged in road incident involving bicycle

On September 28, at approximately 11:00 a.m., members of City of Kawartha Lakes OPP with assistance from MTO and EMS responded to a report of a serious collision with one bicycle and commercial vehicle on Highway 35 and Wrenhaven road.

The commercial vehicle failed to remain on scene. A passer by located the male and contacted the police.

As a result of the collision, 60-year-old male operating the bicycle was airlifted by ORNGE to a hospital for life threatening injuries.

Highway 35 and Wrenhaven road was closed for several hours but has since been reopened.

As a result, 35-year-old Christopher Craig from Fenelon Falls was arrested and charged with failure to stop at an accident resulting in bodily harm, and failure to leave one metre while passing a bicycle

The accused was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.
