Female stabbed during family dispute

At 2:15 am today Kawartha Lakes Police were called to an Adelaide Street home in Lindsay after a family dispute turned violent.

A 25-year-old male allegedly attacked a female family member with a knife. The victim was stabbed once and suffered a serious, but not life-threatening injury as a result.

Another member of the family tried to intervene and was also attacked by the 25-year-old male. The second victim suffered cuts to his face after he was punched twice. Both victims were taken to hospital for treatment.

When police arrived on scene, the suspect fled out the rear of the residence. After a brief foot chase, he was apprehended without further incident.

The accused is facing charges of Aggravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Mischief Under $5,000.

He will appear in a Lindsay court on February 9th for a bail hearing. His name is not being released to protect the identity of the victims.
