Daniel Lanois is coming to Lindsay this August
Acclaimed producer, musician and songwriter, Daniel Lanois returns to Ontario this summer for a rare series of intimate live performances with the Daniel Lanois Trio. Lanois will be making a stop at the Flato Academy Theatre on Aug. 2.
Celebrated for his groundbreaking collaborations with Brian Eno, Peter Gabriel, U2, Emmylou Harris, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and countless others, Lanois has helped shape some of the most influential recordings in modern music history. This special run of Ontario dates offers audiences an opportunity to experience his immersive soundscapes and deeply expressive live performance style in intimate theatre settings across the province.
Joining Lanois on stage are Jermaine Holmes on drums and vocals, and Jim Wilson on bass and vocals, forming a richly textured three-part harmony that blends atmospheric instrumentation with soulful vocal interplay. From ambient experimentation and roots music to alternative rock and atmospheric electronica, Lanois’ signature sound has left a mark on contemporary recording and live performance.
Lanois continues to evolve as a performer and composer, driven by an unrelenting curiosity and passion for musical exploration. His live performances are immersive, emotional, and deeply human, balancing improvisation, texture, melody, and storytelling in equal measure.
“The road is calling as the music keeps on guiding me through the labyrinths of song, messages and inventions,” said Lanois in a press release. “As music rides the airwaves, we continue to troubadour our way to the stage for that exchange we love — live performance.”
The origins of the Lanois Trio trace back to a small chapel on the outskirts of Berlin, where the natural acoustics inspired the group’s harmony-driven approach. With instruments held back and voices filling the room, the trio discovered a powerful new musical dynamic that continues to evolve on stage night after night.
