Climate emergency the focus of National Seniors Day in Lindsay

By Lindsay Advocate

Seniors across Canada are gathering on October 1, 2024 to call for action on the climate emergency.

Good and affordable solutions exist. Capping and ending emissions. Conserving energy. Switching to renewable energy. Investing in adaptation protections. But time is running out.

The members of Seniors for Climate Action Now! believe that through voting, actions, and advocacy their kids, grandkids and future generations might inherit a better world.

The public is invited to join Seniors for Climate Action Now – Kawartha on October 1, 2024, to add their voice for climate action. Beginning at 2:00 p.m., residents can visit the SCAN! table on Kent Street, Lindsay (near the library) to learn more about climate issues in City of Kawartha Lakes. A rally at Victoria Park, Lindsay, will get underway at 4:00 p.m. with music, speakers and a call for action. Attendees are encouraged to bring a sign or placard bearing a climate emergency message.
