Celebrate March Break 2024 with free programming at the Kawartha Lakes Public Library

The Kawartha Lakes Public Library is offering much to do during March Break.

Are you looking for something to do with the kids this March Break? The Kawartha Lakes Public Library has you covered with free, family-friendly programing being offered all week.

“A visit to your local library branch is always a great way for kids to spend time with family and caregivers,” says Marieke Junkin, manager of programming and public Services, Kawartha Lakes Public Library, “For March Break we’ve put together a number of free special events and activities for every kind of kid, from sports to crafts to food. For your convenience, events and activities will be happening at 14 branches throughout the week.”

The action-packed line up of free events and activities includes:

Minute to Win It Games
Challenge your skills with a variety of winter-themed games. Compete in exciting challenges like Snow Shovel Race, Snowman Stack It and more! Don’t miss out on this thrilling competition available at all branches, during their open hours, all week long.

Tabletop Sports Tournament
Join us for a day of tabletop gaming at the Lindsay, Fenelon, and Bobcaygeon branches. Participate in games like curling, bowling, air hockey and more!

Where and when:

– Lindsay branch – Monday March 11 and Tuesday March 12 from 11am to 3pm
– Bobcaygeon branch – Thursday March 14 11am to 6pm and Friday March 15, 11am to 4pm
– Fenelon Falls branch – visit the Fenelon Falls branch any time during March Break to play with giant games

Button Making Workshops
Get creative with our new button maker! Join us for workshops where you can design and create your own buttons at the Woodville, Norland, and Bobcaygeon branches.

Where and when:

– Woodville branch – Monday March 11 at 2 p.m.
– Norland branch – Thursday March 14 at 3 p.m.
– Fenelon Falls branch (drop-in) – Friday March 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
– Bobcaygeon branch – Friday March 15 at 2 p.m.

Art Classes
Unleash your artistic side with art workshops led by a local art teacher. Please note that, as of 3pm on March 8, registration for both Art Classes sessions is full!

Super Twist Balloon Performer
Prepare to be amazed by a balloon creation show at the Bobcaygeon, Omemee, and Lindsay branches.

– Bobcaygeon branch – Monday March 11 at 10:30 a.m.
– Lindsay branch – Wednesday March 13 at 2 p.m.
– Omemee branch – Thursday March 14 at 3 p.m.

Cookie Decorating
Indulge your sweet tooth with cookie decorating sessions at various branches. Supplies are limited, so be sure to arrive early for this delicious activity.

Where and when:

– Kinmount branch – Tuesday March 12 at 11 a.m.
– Fenelon Falls branch – Tuesday March 12 at 11 a.m.
– Oakwood branch – Tuesday March 12 at 3 p.m.
– Kirkfield branch – Thursday March 14 at 11 a.m.
– Dunsford branch – Saturday March 16 at 12:30 p.m.

March Break Monsters
Join us for this fun craft event at all library branches any time (during open hours) throughout the week. We’ve got a monstrous amount of craft supplies for you to make your own special creation. There’s even a prize for the best monster!

Tiny Art
Create an artistic masterpiece on a canvas so small that it fits in the palm of your hand at the Little Britain, Omemee and Kinmount branches. All paint supplies provided.

– Little Britain branch – Monday March 11 at 11 a.m.
– Omemee branch – Tuesday March 12 at 11 a.m.
– Kinmount branch – Thursday March 14 at 11 a.m.
– Fenelon Falls branch – Thursday March 14 at 11 a.m.
